Jennifer Petzen was invited as part of the Sabancı University Gender and Women's Studies Forum talk series, and she discussed being an acceptable or unacceptable European defined by the concept of racialized gender, which has revolved around the integration of “Muslim” women in Western Europe, especially in Germany, in recent years. Petzen stated that the gender roles and identities of Muslim women are determined by the discourse around wearing headscarves and honor killings. She also conveyed with various examples that this discourse led to the perception and condemnation of Muslim women as a threat to Europe, which has achieved gender equality and has come a long way in sexual liberation.
