Carried out by the Sabancı University Gender and Women’s Studies Center of Excellence (SU Gender) with the support of the Sabancı Foundation, the Purple Certificate Program will reward efforts of teachers and candidate teachers in the field of gender equality for the first time in Turkey.
The program has continued for 14 years in order to build a culture of gender awareness in education. Within the framework of “the Purple Certificate Program Gender Equality in Education Awards”, winners will be announced in the following categories: “İpek Gürkaynak Creative Pedagogy”, “Gender Equality”, “Egalitarian Practices” and “Purple Seeds”. The awards aim to add visibility to the efforts of hundreds of teachers with a Purple Certificate Program degree to integrate what they acquired from the program to their teaching environment, and inspire teachers and candidate teachers from all over Turkey.
The award ceremony will be held with the participation and speeches of Prof. Dr. Yusuf Leblebici, President of Sabancı University, Nevgül Bilsel Safkan, General Manager of the Sabancı Foundation, Prof. Dr. Hülya Adak, Director of SU Gender, and İpek Gürkaynak, Instructor of the Purple Certificate Program. In addition, a panel entitled “Working Gender Equality at School” will be held with the participation of the award-winning teachers.
All members of Sabancı University are invited to the “the Purple Certificate Program Gender Equality in Education Awards” ceremony, which will be broadcast live at 17:00 on Thursday, November 11, 2021.
