Nevgül Bilsel Safkan graduated from the Austrian High School in Istanbul in 1989. In 1993, Safkan received her BA degree from the Faculty of Business Administration in Istanbul University, continuing on to complete the Executive MBA Program at Boğaziçi University in 2003. Starting her career as an auditor at Arthur Andersen, she served as the CFO and at General Manager positions at leading companies in the industry. Spending 16 years of her career with the Sabancı Group, Nevgül Bilsel Safkan started to work as the General Manager of Sabancı Foundation in September 2018 and she was also appointed as the Vice President of the Foundation in March 2020. She is also a member of the executive boards of the Third Sector Foundation of Turkey and the Education Reform Initiative. Further, she is on the Advisory Board of Sabancı University’s Gender and Women’s Studies Center of Excellence (SU Gender). Nevgül Bilsel Safkan became a member of the Board of Directors in 2022 in Teknosa where she worked as the CFO for many years.
In the international arena, she was awarded the title of Zero Project Ambassador in 2021 for 4 years by the Austria-based Essl Foundation, which works in the field of disability rights. In 2023, she was elected as a member of the Advisory Board of the European Philanthropy Association (Philea) for 3 years.
