Banu Karaca gave the opening speech of the international symposium held in Karaköy Minerva Palas on November 6-7, 2015. The symposium involved panels on the following topics: “
Feminist Epistemology”, “Gender and Fictions of Nations”, “Literary Masculinities”, “Gender and Sexuality through the Lens of Classes and Genres”, “Aesthetics of Desire”, “Female Voices in Literature” and “Reproducing Gender”.
The aim of the symposium was to investigate how gender affects art and literary theories, history, creation and reception processes, and to examine the formative and transformative effects of art and literature on definitions and experiences of gender and sexuality.
