Melda Çele

Melda Çele is the Executive Director of UN Global Compact Türkiye. Established in 2000 by the then Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, UN Global Compact is an initiative aimed at aligning the operations and strategies of businesses with 10 universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption. It also encourages companies to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their core business strategies and operations.

Hülya Şimga

Boğaziçi University, and her master’s and PhD degrees at Duquesne University Philosophy Department (USA). She is currently professor of philosophy at Maltepe University Philosophy Department. She serves as the vice-president for academic affairs at Maltepe University. She is the director of the Center for Women and Family Studies and is the chair of UNESCO Chair for Gender Equality and Culture.

Dilek Cindoğlu

Dilek Cindoglu, Ph.D. Professor of Sociology; Kadir Has University, Women and Gender Studies Graduate Studies Coordinator. Fulbright Senior Scholar, Georgetown University ISIM (2022). She is a graduate of Bogazici University, Istanbul (B.A. and M.A.) and received her Ph.D. (1991) from SUNY at Buffalo. She has published on the gendered processes of paid work, political participation, migration, health and sexuality in international journals and in book chapters.

Cenk Özbay

Cenk Özbay has been an associate professor of sociology and gender studies at Sabanci University’ Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences since 2016. They received their B.A. and M.A. degrees from Boğaziçi University and their Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Southern California. Their research and teaching focuses on gender and sexuality, masculinities, the body, cities, culture, and neoliberalism. They have published extensively in national and international academic journals.

Ayfer Bartu Candan

Ayfer Bartu Candan is an Associate Professor of Social Anthropology at the Sociology Department at Boğaziçi University. She got her B.A degree from the Sociology and the Psychology departments at the same university in 1990, and got her M.A and Ph.D degrees from the Anthropology Department at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1997. Before Boğaziçi, she taught at Koç University in Turkey, and at the UC Berkeley and Stanford University in the USA.

Ezgi Şeref

Ezgi Şeref works as the Education Coordinator at SU Gender. Şeref holds a bachelors degree in law from Marmara University and two masters degree from the Conflict Analysis and Resolution Program and the Cultural Studies Program at Sabancı University. Şeref received her PhD in social and cultural thought from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and the State University.

Fulya Kama Özelkan

Fulya is a PhD Candidate in Gender Studies Program at Sabancı University and also working as an instructor at Istanbul Technical University in Advanced English Program. She received her MA from Sabancı University, Cultural Studies Program and BA from Boğaziçi University, English Language and Literature Department. She is a feminist researcher whose interests focus on gender-based violence and women’s empowerment, digital feminist activism, online and offline feminist solidarity networks, #MeToo movement, resistance as well as struggles of women against sexual violence.

Esin Düzel

Dr. Esin Düzel is a Project Specialist for the Horizon2020 project ACCTING (Advancing Behavioral Change through an Inclusive Green Deal), and gender equality trainer at Purple Certificate and ProGender+ programs. She received her PhD in Anthropology from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), MA in Comparative Studies from the Ohio State University, and BA in Cultural Studies from Sabanci University. Her work focuses on space and morality in conflicts, feminist peace, and future studies (with a focus on utopias and climate crisis).

Burcu Borhan Türeli

Burcu Borhan Türeli works as a Project Specialist at Sabancı University Gender and Women's Studies Center of Excellence (SU Gender) for the EU Horizon 2020 project ACCTING (AdvanCing Behavioural Change Through an INclusive Green deal). She holds a BA in English Language and Literature (2004) and Translation Studies (2005) from Istanbul University with high honors. Awarded a Fulbright scholarship, she earned an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) with a concentration in Women and Gender Studies at George Mason University (GMU) in Virginia, USA (2009).

Begüm Acar

Begüm Acar works as the Coordinator of Gender and Women’s Studies Center in Sabanci University (SU Gender). Begüm studied Sociology and Comparative Literature in Istanbul Bilgi University, and continues her graduate study in Musicology. As a feminist activist, Begüm has volunteered in civil society organizations on gender equality at both national and international levels, taken part in campaigns and research projects specially on femicide, local elections, peace, and women's labor.
