Berfin Çiçek

Berfin Çiçek was previously a Master’s student in the Cultural Studies department at Sabancı University and a research assistant at the Gender and Women’s Studies Center for Excellence. She completed her undergraduate studies of Comparative Literature at Koç University with an Honors thesis “Telling the Memories of Massacre: Trauma and Testimony from Dersim’s 38” published by Amsterdam University Press in Conference Proceedings. She wrote her MA thesis “Politics of Resistance in Modern Iranian Literature: Trauma, Memory and the Limits of Subjectivities”.

Dilşah Pınar Ensari

Pınar holds BA degrees in Philosophy and Political Science and International Relations from Boğaziçi University and an MA degree in Cultural Studies from Sabancı University. In 2013, she won the first prize at Dicle Koğacıoğlu Article Awards with her article based on her fieldwork for the MA thesis. The same article was published in the book titled Dicle Koğacıoğlu Kitabı: Türkiye’de Cinsiyet Kültürleri in 2019. After working in Hrant Dink Foundation and Third Sector Foundation of Turkey (TÜSEV) as project coordinator for several years, she decided to turn back to academia.

Aslı İkizoğlu Erensü

Aslı İkizoğlu Erensü is currently teaching at Sabancı University, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Minnesota, and an MA in Sociology from the University of Essex. She is interested in regimes of mobility and politics of humanitarianism, and has worked on (i) how refugees are constituted as subjects of intervention at the intersection of the two, and (ii) how the experience of asylum is locally produced in Turkish cities.

Aslıhan Muazzez Ünsal

Aslıhan Muazzez Ünsal is a visiting instructor in the Foundations Development Program at Sabanci University. She completed her undergraduate degree in the Physics Department at Bilkent University, Ankara. She continued her master studies in Astronomy at Boston University. Her PhD degree in Physics is from Sabanci University. Her research interests are High Energy Astrophysics, spectral and temporal properties of Gamma ray bursts.

Ayşe Gül Altınay

Ayşe Gül Altınay received her Cultural Anthropology PhD and Women’s Studies Certificate from Duke University in 2001. At Sabancı University, she has been among the co-creators of the Cultural Studies (BA & MA) and Gender Studies (PhD) programs, the Sexual Harassment Policy, the Purple Certificate Program, the Gender Forum, Dicle Koğacıoğlu Article Award, SU Gender, Şirin Tekeli Research Award and the Gender Equality Action Plan.

Ayşecan Terzioğlu

Ayşecan Terzioğlu is an assistant professor at Sabancı University, Cultural Studies Program. She also taught at Koç University, Faculty of Health Sciences and Galatasaray University, Department of Sociology. She completed her Ph.D. at the City University of New York, the Graduate Center, Department of Anthropology following her B.A. and M.A. at Boğaziçi University, Department of Sociology. Her research and teaching interests include globalization and health inequalities, biopolitics, illness narratives, body and gender and anthropology of the Middle East.

Nevgül Bilsel Safkan

Nevgül Bilsel Safkan graduated from the Austrian High School in Istanbul in 1989. In 1993, Safkan received her BA degree from the Faculty of Business Administration in Istanbul University, continuing on to complete the Executive MBA Program at Boğaziçi University in 2003. Starting her career as an auditor at Arthur Andersen, she served as the CFO and at General Manager positions at leading companies in the industry.

Ayşe Kadıoğlu

Ayşe Kadıoğlu has been Professor of Political Science at Sabancı University since 1998. She was Visiting Scholar at Columbia University, Sakıp Sabancı Center for Turkish Studies during the 2019-2020 academic year. She was a Fellow at Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Carr Center for Human Rights Policy and a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies between 2018-2020.

Ayşe Öncü

Ayse Öncü received her undergraduate degree from ODTU in Sociology, master’s degree from Bryn Mawr College, and doctorate from Yale University. She worked as a faculty member in the Sociology Department at Boğazici University. Between 2003-2011, she worked as a Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Sabanci University. Öncü has published numerous articles in journals and books in Turkey and abroad.

Haluk Bal

Haluk Bal was born in Karamürsel in 1954. After graduating from Darüşşafaka High School in 1973, he completed his BA in 1978 at Istanbul University Faculty of Management. Between 1978-1980, he worked as the Managing Director of The Journal of Banks and Economic Perspectives (Banka ve Ekonomik Yorumlar Dergisi). Between 1981-1983, he worked as an Expert of Financial Affairs at IBM Turk Limited Company. From 1984 to 1996, he was employed as a Sales Representative, Marketing Manager, and a Director at the Finance Sector.
